A verdict of guilty was returned Thursday against a Columbia man who stood trial on charges of attempted murder.

Officials with the City of Lawrenceburg have announced that the city’s annual Independence Day fireworks show will not be possible this year on July 4.




A multiple vehicle crash occurred around 1:30 Monday afternoon in the vicinity of McDonalds on North Locust Avenue, diverting the traffic flow. Crash scene investigators were working to determine the sequence of events.




Lawrenceburg Fire Chief Jay Moore informed city leaders Thursday that local fire departments have been selected to receive nearly $430,000 in federal grant funds.

A local resident reported to authorities Thursday that her banking institution had successfully blocked a fraudulent charge when someone attempted to use her debit card to make a purchase in the State of Wisconsin.




The Summertown High School tennis doubles team, Ashtyn Keeton and Kristin Caperton punched their ticket to state tournament this week.  The ladies competed in the Class A-AA Individual Region tournament May 11th.  SHS defeated East Hickman 6-2, 6-1 and Mt. Pleasant 6-4, 6-1.   During the season the girls team were undeated 7-0.  The ladies will play in the TSSAA State Individual doubles tournament May 21st at 12:00.  All matches will be played at Old Forte Park in Murfreesboro.  



A man added Friday afternoon to the TBI’s Top 10 Most Wanted list, Steven Blake Armstrong, has been captured in Giles County.

Owners of a local property are seeking information after finding more than one hundred tires had been dumped on their property overnight Monday.

The Agriculture Department of Lawrence County High School will be having their annual plant sale on Saturday, April 18 & 25th from 8:00-12:00 at the Greenhouse at the school entrance on Beuerlein Street. The Loretto FFA will have its annual plant sale every Friday from 3:00 to 5:00 and Saturdays from 8:00 to 12:00 until all plants are sold.




A Leoma man perished as the result of injuries he sustained in an automobile crash that occurred on North Locust Avenue in Lawrenceburg Thursday morning.




Press release: Thursday afternoon a Lawrence County School bus was unloading on Highway 43 when a van struck the bus from behind.  Reports show that the van swerved and tried to miss the bus.  Two students were transported by ambulance to the hospital.  The LCSS Transportation Department and Administrators went through proper procedures and all other kids have been picked up by parents.

On Tuesday, a number of local elected officials welcomed new Chamber of Commerce President and Industrial Recruiter Ethan Hadley to Lawrence County. Hadley previously worked in the industrial recruitment field in the Huntsville, Alabama area. He told officials that he is excited about the opportunity to help Lawrence County grow and make economic progress in the years ahead.

An investigation into an instance of shoplifting led police officers to discover and dismantle a meth lab at a South Columbia Avenue home last week.




With severe weather season upon us, the City of Loretto would like to take a moment to explain our emergency warning system and how it can help keep you safe during severe weather.  



Local law enforcement officials initiated an investigation last week after several residents reported on the same day that the tires on their automobiles had been slashed.




On Wednesday, April 1 the Lawrenceburg Fire Department will begin the process of testing, cleaning, and conducting maintenance on fire hydrants.




New unemployment figures released by the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development show that Lawrence County's unemployment rate decreased in February.




Lawrenceburg leaders agreed Thursday to contract with the engineering firm Griggs and Maloney in the hopes of making improvements to Springer Road.
